About ICPC

The International Collegiate Programming Contest (ICPC) is a multi-tier, team-based, programming competition operating under the auspices of ACM and headquartered at Baylor University. The contest involves a global network of universities hosting regional competitions that advance teams to the ICPC World Finals. Participation has grown to several tens of thousands of the finest students and faculty in computing disciplines at almost 3000 universities from over 111 countries on six continents. The contest fosters creativity, teamwork, and innovation in building new software programs, and enables students to test their ability to perform under pressure. Quite simply, it is the oldest, largest, and most prestigious programming contest in the world. ICPC Foundation is the Global Sponsor of this event. The other sponsors includes JetBrains(ICPC global programming tools sponser) and Codechef.

About Gwalior-Pune Regionals

ABV-IIITM Gwalior and IIIT Pune are jointly hosting this year's ICPC Asia Gwalior-Pune Regionals under the auspices of ACM. ICPC Asia Gwalior-Pune Regionals 2019 is an Asian-level Contest. Teams across Asia can participate in this contest. Teams qualifying in the online contest advance to participate in the on-site contest and the winners of the on-site contest are eligible to participate in the world finals.

Important Notifications


  • Teams shall first register in Baylor Site.
  • Last date of registration: October 4th Last for payment: October 5th.

    • Steps for online contest registration & dates:
      1.Each team shall have a coach. Coach is the faculty member from the same college as that of the team.
      2.Coach creates a team in the Baylor Site under “Asia Gwalior-Pune First Round Online Programming Contest” Online contest. Coach is expected to create a team with the official email id. Official email id means, he/she shall use the institutional email id. While creating teams, the coach shall invite the contestants and reserve.
      3.Team members (contestants) shall complete their profile in Baylor Site. It is mandatory that all the details as required in the Baylor system shall be completed before the last date.
      4.The team shall pay the registration fees of INR 900. This is for the entire team. The fees already paid is refunded if a team pays and wants to cancel the registration. But the cancellation request has to reach us by email to icpc@iiitm.ac.in on or before 10 days before the date of the online contest. No refund is possible after the last date and the contest. Non-participation in the contest also will not lead to the refund of the fees.
      6.After online contest result. The short listed team for onsite contest shall pay Registration Fee: Rs. 3600.


  • As per the Asia rule, foreign teams are exempted from attending the online round contest. Foreign team registration starts on November 10 and ends on December 5, 2019.

    • 1.Foreign teams shall complete their registration in the Baylor System before the contest. This includes entering the passport details also.
      2.After the successful completion of all the profile data, coach’s Head of the Department or Institution head has to send a letter [in the official institutional letter head] stating the participation of the team members at ICPC Asia Gwalior-Pune Site. This letter shall be addressed to the “Regional Contest Director”, ICPC, ABV-IIITM Gwalior Scanned copy of the letter shall be sent by email to icpc@iiitm.ac.in. Name of the team members in the letter shall be the same as in their passport.
      3.Invitation letter for Visa application is issued only after receiving this letter.
      4.Registration fees for the foreign team is USD 300. This includes food and hostel accommodation [campus hostels] for the team members including the coaches. After the payment please fill this FORM.
      5.All the registration formalities shall be completed by December 5.


      1.Single individual login on Baylor & same team formation
  • Each individual should only have one account registered at the Baylor site.
  • Each individual should be a part of exactly one team, which means team formation should be the same across all the regionals where the individual is going to take part.
  • This also means that the team details (email id etc) should be the same.

    • 2.Max 2 regionals
  • A team should register for at most two regionals, and any discrepancy would lead to disqualification.


      1.All of you must bring your Institute ID and Aadhar card for verification during Onsite contest.
      2. Free Hostel accommodation with bedrolls and food will be provided for 14th noon to 16th December morning, 2019. You can book in advance the hostel accommodation for extra day on payment basis (Rs. 750 per team one room per day accommodation). (pay in Cash)
      3.Your final registration for the onsite contest will be from 2:30pm-4:00pm and 5:30pm-8:00pm on 14th December, 2019 at ABV-IIITM Gwalior / IIIT Pune.
      4.On 14th December at 4:00pm-5:30pm a practice session will be held at the contest venue.
      5. Inauguration function will be held from 6:00pm – 7:00pm on 14th December followed by dinner.
      6. Tentative timing of main contest will be from 9:30-2:30 pm and Prize distribution at 5:30-6:30pm on 15th December, 2019.
      7. Please bring sufficient winter clothing (for Gwalior site), one set lock & key and mosquito repellent.
      8. As per ICPC norms a cookbook (programming materials) of maximum 25 pages (front size 12 pt) is allowed; So please prepare the same bring a hard copy and send (optional) it to icpc@iiitm.ac.in with subject . Please send only pdf document for this purpose.
      9.Book your train tickets by keeping in mind the foggy weather conditions of north India.

  • Q. Can I register without a Coach?
    A. No, it is not possible to register a team without a coach, for more information click here.

  • Q. Is it possible to have a person from the industry appear as a coach?
    A. No. As per the ICPC rules, it is compulsory to have a faculty member from the institution as a coach for the team.

  • Q. Can I use my personal laptop to attend the online or onsite contest?
    A. No. It is not permitted for the onsite round, but you can use your personal computer to participate in the online round.

  • Q. Can a team participate in the Online or Onsite contest with less than 3 members?
    A. No, it is not permitted. A team should consist of 3 members and one reserve member. Also, a team can only have one coach per team.

  • Q. Is it necessary to have the all team members from same institution?
    A. Yes, A team should always be affiliated with one institution. So, there cannot be members from different institutions in one team.

  • Q. Is there any registration fee?
    A. The registration fee is INR 900 per team for the online contest and for the teams that qualify to the onsite round, the registration fees is INR 3600. The registration fee for foreign teams is USD 300.

  • Q. Maximum teams allowed?
    A. As of now, the maximum teams for the online round has been restricted to 1050. From those teams, only 125 teams will proceed to the onsite round, based on ranking and college quota after the online round.

  • Q. Method of payment?
    A. Teams can pay through online remittance.
